Greetings from the President
Welcome to the Reunion Music Society's first Newsletter of 2010. You are invited to read this and future newsletters and pass along the enclosed information to friends, family members, neighbors and colleagues. As more people know about our organization and the wonderful concerts we sponsor, we will look forward to more music lovers attending the performances and enjoying evenings of truly musical pleasure.
As the new president of the RMS, I want to thank outgoing President Pat Sawhney, for her four years of dedication in leading the Society and helping to foster greater recognition of the NOVA-Annandale Symphony Orchestra, the Annandale Brass Ensemble and the Reunion Music Society Jazz Orchestra within the community. She is well deserving of our appreciation for the many hours she has devoted to the RMS. Pat will continue to serve on the Board to help us achieve our goals for the coming year.
June Lepthien's term on the RMS Board of Directors has ended and I wish to also recognize and thank her for six years of service on the Board. June has contributed greatly to the workings and success of the RMS for which we are most appreciative. We are now seeking to fill June's vacancy on the Board, as well as one other vacancy. I also want to extend our thanks to those who attended the concerts and contributed monetary donations during 2009. With their help and our rigorous attention to controlling costs, we were able to halt the decline in funds available for our operations. We are grateful for their continuing support.
The RMS will be sponsoring several brass, jazz and symphonic concerts throughout 2010 (please see the schedule by clicking on "Upcoming Events" in this website). You are invited to attend these performances and enjoy great music at very nominal cost.

RMS Needs Your Help
The Reunion Music Society has been providing a community service since 1992 with the support of many volunteers. The Society's operations are guided by 15 Directors who serve on its Board for three-year terms with the possible extension of one consecutive three-year term. Director terms are staggered to insure operational continuity. We expect there will be two or three vacancies come January 2010. As a supporter of RMS' programs please consider volunteering to serve as a director. We are seeking music lovers and persons who have some business background to help guide RMS during these challenging economic times. As you are no doubt aware the current economic climate presents many challenges for arts organizations. We would appreciate your suggestions for businesses or organizations that might be able to "underwrite" any of our concerts. This can be a "win-win" situation with additional exposure for the underwriter. Also, please pass along your suggestions of potential advertisers in our concert "playbills". A full page is only $100, a half-page costs $50, and a quarter page is priced at $25. We can also arrange a discount for advertising in multiple concert publications.
